Sparkling wine specialist Freixenet Copestick has appointed Henry Boyes to the new role of buying and innovation controller. He will join the company in August.

Boyes was previously group wine buyer for the pub chain Mitchells & Butlers which he left in January.

His remit will be to evolve the company’s buying and wine quality capability, develop new brands and build collaborative working with partner wineries.

It will also include developing the portfolio of wines for Freixenet Copestick’s online retail arm Slurp.

Freixenet Copestick’s brand portfolio includes Freixenet, I Heart and Mionetto.

Boyes said: “I am incredibly proud of what I achieved at M&B but the time was right for me to move on.

“I said at the time I needed a new challenge and to join Freixenet Copestick is an incredible opportunity, particularly in such an exciting new role.

“The company has great brands but also a thirst for innovation and I can’t wait to get started.”
