Hallgarten & Novum Wines has announced a spate of new producers from France and California, ahead of its portfolio tasting today (2 February).
French producers
From Chablis, Hallgarten has partnered with Domaine William Fèvre, becoming the exclusive UK distributor of the estate.
Domaine William Fèvre has a history spanning over 250 years and has the largest holdings of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards of any producer in Chablis.
It is presently led by winemaker Didier Séguier, who creates wines through traditional vinification, hand-harvested fruit and the use of old oak.
At the same time, Hallgarten also announced that it was the exclusive distributor of Château Paradis Casseuil from Entre-deux-Mers in Bordeaux, known for producing red and white AOC Bordeaux wines.
Both producers are owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite.
Additionally, from Burgundy, Hallgarten said it has collaborated with Olivier Leflaive, bringing a selection of its fine wines to the UK.
Founded in 1984, Olivier Leflaive is one of Burgundy’s most renowned estates, according to the importer.
It is known for its range of both white and red wines from the Côte de Beaune, vinified under winemaker Solène Panigai.
Californian producers
Elsewhere, Hallgarten has also teamed up with a duo of Californian producers: Freemark Abbey and La Crema, part of Jackson Family Wines.
Freemark has a history that dates back to 1886, said the importer, at which time it was run by Josephine Tychson, the first woman to own and operate a wine estate in California.
Today it is known for crafting classically structured Cabernet Sauvignon from pedigreed sites, including the Bosché and Sycamore vineyards.
La Crema was founded in 1979 in the Russian River Valley and has a reputation for making some of the top Burgundian varieties in California, as well as Pinot Noir.
