Gabe Cook, best known under his name The Ciderologist, has announced the launch of a series of cider experiences, set to take place in Herefordshire this October.

Named Cider Safari, Cook said that the B2C project aims to highlight the heritage, story and personality of Herefordshire cider.

Early in October, there will be a cider-themed walking safari around Hereford city centre, which features storytelling and stops at three venues before ending at the Museum of Cider.

Later in the month, the Cider Safari also includes a minibus tour of three of the county’s leading cider makers, plus a lunch with The Ciderologist.

Finally, towards the end of October, those interested can take part in a cider-making experience, to be hosted at Dragon Orchard in Putley.

On Herefordshire cider, Cook said: “Herefordshire makes more cider than anywhere else in the world, and it has a heritage dating back 1000 years, yet for many drinkers in the UK, cider is more synonymous with Devon or Somerset.”

On the Cider Safari, he added: “These experiences not only champion this great drink and the heritage of Herefordshire, but they also support farmers at a time when agriculture is going through a tough time.”
