Fells has strengthened its line-up of family-owned wineries with the addition of Argentina’s Bodega Lagarde, which joins the UK distributor’s portfolio from September 2025.

Founded in 1897 and based in Mendoza, Bodega Lagarde is regarded as one of the region’s pioneers of Malbec, high-altitude viticulture and site-specific winemaking. The winery has been owned by the Pescarmona family since 1969 and is now run by third-generation sisters Sofía and Lucila Pescarmona.

“Family heritage has always been the cornerstone of our philosophy at Fells,” said MD Euan Mackay. “Bodega Lagarde, owned and operated by the Pescarmona family for several generations, adds further strength and depth to our South American offering.”

Sofía Pescarmona, co-director of Bodega Lagarde, added: “Joining forces with Fells marks a new chapter for Bodega Lagarde in the UK. We’re thrilled to introduce our wines to the UK market alongside a portfolio of other globally recognised family vineyards.”

The move follows Fells’ recent announcement that it has taken on the UK distribution of Burgundy’s Maison Louis Latour. The group, founded in 1858, represents a portfolio of family-owned wineries from across the world, including majority shareholder Symington Family Estates, and also Familia Torres and the Hill-Smith family.

Bodega Lagarde’s wines include the vibrant Teia Malbec and the Proyecto Hermanas collection, with fruit drawn from family-owned vineyards in Drummond and Agrelo in Lujan de Cuyo, and Gualtallary in the Uco Valley. Beyond winemaking, the estate is also home to two resturants: the Michelin starred Zonda, Cocina de Paisaje; and Fogón, Cocina de Viñedo, which has been recognised in the Michelin Guide.
