De Bortoli Wines has revealed three new blends, which have been created after years of experimenting with alternative grape varieties from its King Valley, Yarra Valley and Riverina vineyards.

The Down the Lane wines have been created by John Coughlan, De Bortoli’s experimental senior winemaker who is known to favour working with lesser-known grape varieties.

He said: “Down The Lane is a terrific opportunity to explore varieties that may be better suited to our particular climates and blending for interest and flavour rather than the traditional single variety approach.”

The range is comprised of a white Pinot Grigio 2016, which includes a touch of Vermentino; a rose Gris de Gris 2016, which is a blend of Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir; and a Shiraz Tempranillo 2015.

The wines are available to the off-trade priced at £8.99 each and the UK agent is North South Wines.
