Cramele Recas, the Romanian wine exporter, is launching its first wines into Waitrose stores.

The retailer is adding a premium Pinot Grigio and a Pinot Noir, both of which are 100% vegan and made from hand-picked, estate-grown grapes.

The Sorcova Pinot Grigio, (rrp £7.79) “treats the senses with fruity aromas of grapefruit and peach”, which follow through to reveal notes of melon and apples with a citrusy acidity.

The Sorcova Pinot Noir, (rrp £7.79) is described as being perfect for lovers of fruity reds. It is dark, rich and potent with “continual layers of black cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon”.

Marien Rodriguez, wine buyer, Waitrose & Partners, said: “I am confident that the addition of the Sorcova wines to the Waitrose & Partners range, is the right step given our strategic focus on offering high-quality wines that represent great value for our customers. These wines show a clean and intense fruit-driven profile with a beautifully textured and balanced palate”.

Philip Cox, founder and commercial director of Cramele Recas says: “We are so thrilled to launch our new Sorcova range in Waitrose, and very proud to be at the forefront of putting Romanian wines on the map in terms of producing quality wine.”
