Specialist premium baijiu importer and distributer, Cheng International, is launching a four-part online masterclass in the UK.
The series of classes, which starts on July 13, will focus on baijiu, China’s most famous spirit.
The course, which is aimed specifically at those involved in the UK drinks trade, will be hosted via Zoom and led by the managing director of Cheng International, Qiqi Chen.
Cheng International said it wanted to offer these events to “encourage people to learn about baijiu and to understand how it is made”, as well as exploring its history, which is deep-rooted in Chinese culture.
The masterclasses will also demonstrate how baijiu can complement the range of a retailer that sells exceptional spirits. Cheng will highlight how baijiu matches with food, and how to make baijiu cocktails.
The first UK masterclass, on July 13, will be an introduction to this premium Chinese white spirit, and it is free of charge for up to 100 people. To reserve a place, visit http://bomci.chengintl.co.uk/
The following two classes will focus on different styles of baijiu and will include a tutored tasting, for which samples should be purchased in advance for home delivery. There is a cost for samples. For every order of samples Cheng will donate £5 to The Drinks Trust.
The final class (August 3) is free of charge.
The classes will be held on Mondays on the following dates: July 13, 20, 27 and August 3. The classes will be from 3 to 3.40pm.
