Chapel Down has revealed its latest release from its single vineyard Kit’s Coty Estate.

The Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016 follows in the footsteps of Kit’s Coty Chardonnay and Kit’s Coty Coeur de Cuvee, both of which were successful since launch, according to the Kent-based producer.

The Kit’s Coty vineyard is located on the North Downs of Kent, and the Bacchus 2016 is produced from the finest parcels of Bacchus grapes from this vineyard. The grapes were harvested by hand and then whole bunch-pressed, before undergoing wild fermentation in third and fourth use French Oak barrels for nine months.

Head winemaker, Josh Donaghay-Spire, said: “This very ripe style of Bacchus has guava, melon and peach aromas with background oak influence. The palate is pure and focused with more tropical flavours and an exceptional length. I have a particular affinity with the Bacchus grape variety, owing to the fact it is so well suited to the English terroir coupled with its versatility in the wine styles it can produce.”

Right from the start of this journey, when the first fruit from the Kit’s Coty vineyard was harvested in 2010, we knew this site was capable of excellence. We are thrilled with the results and are excited to now share these wines with the market and the growing number of pilgrims of Chapel Down.”

The Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016 is available to purchase for £25 per bottle.

In 2016 Chapel Down released Kit’s Coty Chardonnay 2013, which was followed in 2017 by Kit’s Coty Coeur de Cuvee 2013 and Kit’s Coty Blanc de Blancs 2013.
