Manchester-based Boutinot has become the exclusive distributor for Peter Lehmann Wines (Barossa, South Australia) and Morris of Rutherglen (Rutherglen, Victoria) in the UK, taking over from Liberty Wines.
The top Aussie brands will be available across the indie, on-trade and national brewer channels in Great Britain.
Part of Australian wine company Casella Family Brands, Peter Lehmann is committed to its ongoing strategy of supporting family growers in the Barossa, encouraging successive generations of growers in the region. Boutinot will now be focused on growing the momentum Peter Lehmann has earned over decades in GB, while also bringing on Morris wines which are unique to the Boutinot portfolio.
Boutinot head of product Nick Butler said he is looking forward to taking on the “custodianship of these iconic Australian brands in Great Britain”. He went on to praise its long-standing grower relationships.
Boutinot was founded in 1980 to supply local wine merchants. It has since grown its international reach, representing over 200 producers. It also owns four vineyards, known as its ‘homes’: Domaine Boutinot in Cairanne, France; Henners in East Sussex, England; Wildeberg in Franschhoek, South Africa; and Heaphy in Nelson, New Zealand.
Boutinot will be sporting the Peter Lehmann and Morris of Rutherglen wines at its regional portfolio tastings in September, supported by Peter Lehmann senior head winemaker Brett Schutz.
Simon Lawson, MD of Casella Family Brands Europe, added: “As a family-owned business grounded in strong values, Casella is proud to align with a like-minded partner in Boutinot. Together, we aim to build sustainable growth and unlock new opportunities for both Peter Lehmann Wines and Morris of Rutherglen, which are truly iconic Australian brands. With Boutinot’s expertise and passion, we’re confident the brand is in the best possible hands for continued success in Great Britain.”
