Borough Wines has extended its drink-in offering to four of its London sites, along with the launch of a new menu of bar snacks and drinks.

The new menu, which features wines, cocktails and beers, alongside Spanish-influenced bar snacks, is now available at Borough Wines shops in Stoke Newington, Kensal Rise, Columbia Road and Hackney.

Corinna Pyke, the company’s co-director, said: “As soon as we opened the shop in Hackney, customers wanted to linger and enjoy a glass or two amongst the shelves, so the new bar menu really just builds on something we have been offering in an informal capacity for some time. By introducing the menu – adding a few nibbles and formalising what’s on offer – it means we can be a bit more flexible and cater to more people in this way.”

“Our aim has always been to create informal retail spaces that feel approachable and friendly, so it’s a huge compliment that people do want to stay a while and have a drink. The by-the-glass option is a great way to try something new before taking the plunge and buying a bottle – especially if it’s not your usual tipple. They definitely don’t let you do that in a supermarket.”

Each week three different wines from the range will be available by the glass, all priced at £4 (for 125ml). Alternatively, customers can choose to pay £5 corkage and drink any wine from the shelves.

Corkage of 50p is charged on all beers and ciders or customers can choose to share a growler and pay by the litre. These are individually priced.

To celebrate the launch of the new menu Borough Wines is offering 20% off for the first weekend, starting 22 April.
