The Bordeaux Butterfly pop-up bar is returning to London next month in a bid to educate consumers about the region’s diversity.

Dry and aromatic whites, fruity rosés, sparkling crémants and soft, fruit-forward reds will be among the wines poured at the bar.

It is open from June 4-22 at Finsbury Avenue Square, just a few minutes’ walk from Liverpool Street station

Fiona Juby, UK market consultant for Bordeaux generic body CIVB, told DRN: “Our marketing focus is the £6-20 and that younger consumer. We are trying to increase awareness and change perceptions, so they don’t think it’s older. We have our Everyday Bordeaux wine list and the Butterfly Bar.

“An awful lot of young people attended last year and it will be on for three weeks this year. A lot of young people have come and learned about Bordeaux’s diversity, approachability, modernity and affordability.

“They learned we do crémant, white and rosé, and events like that really help them experience and discover.”
