A blockchain-powered whisky investment platform founded by a Bristol distiller has reported strong growth as interest rises in fractional ownership of maturing whisky.

Still In Cask, created by Liam Hirt, reports a 30% year-on-year increase in users as part of growing demand for smaller-scale whisky investments that allow enthusiasts to buy shares in casks rather than entire barrels.

“When we launched Still In Cask in 2021, the goal was simple: make cask ownership accessible to the people who actually love whisky,” said Hirt.

Shares on the platform currently start at around £20 and aims to offer an accessible alternative to traditional cask investment models.

Hirt is also the founder of Circumstance Distillery and Psychopomp Microdistillery. The idea for Still In Cask emerged from the operational realities of running a young distillery.

Since launching, the platform has sold more than 4,400 cask shares across 54 casks, with the majority of users purchasing one or two shares rather than building large portfolios.
