Bestway Retail has opened its latest hybrid store, as it looks to bring together convenience with a more premium alcohol offer.

The first Costcutter with a Wine Rack opened in Guildford this weekend and the concept follows the launch of Costcutter with a Bargain Booze, in 2022.

The new company-owned store was formerly a Select Convenience with a Bargain Booze shop. Bestway said the plan is to roll the concept out across other stores throughout the Southwest.

The new Wine Rack store will offer a range of beers, wines and spirits from around the world, including around 30 different Champagnes and 50 craft beers, the company said. The store will also offer customers gifting options and a gift-wrapping service.

Bestway also has plans to launch tasting and pairing events at the store.

Jamie Davison, retail director at Bestway Retail, said: “This store is our first pioneering concept store for Costcutter and Wine Rack and is an immensely exciting milestone for us as a business. The launch continues our market leading journey into the opportunity that hybrid stores can offer the sector adding further value in the retailer proposition.

“This upmarket convenience store concept aims to meet the needs of our customers, so they are able to buy everything they need across a full day and different shopping missions.”
