Bestway Wholesale, one of the UK’s largest independent food and drink wholesalers, has announced it will be investing £10 million in reducing standard prices for over 2,000 of its product lines.
The price cuts will come into effect immediately across all categories, especially focused on a range of goods Bestway considers ‘everyday essentials’.
This investment builds on the £2.5 million Bestway put into cutting prices for over 11,000 branded products at the start of this year, which was intended to help its customers grow and diminish the impact of cost increases such as the minimum wage.
The drops include alcohol. For example, Budweiser 440ml cans are being lowered from the standard price of £9.89 for a case of 10 to £8.99.
Bestway supplies three main groups, servicing the retail, catering/on-trade and specialist pet sectors. A total of 100,000 of its customers are retailers. It is here that the investment is intended to land, with the aim of improving the profitability of businesses in the UK by lowering prices of high demand goods. It is also aimed at boosting businesses’ ability to plan for the future more effectively, while navigating complex risk factors.
Dawood Pervez, MD at Bestway Wholesale, said: “It’s a real investment in the day-to-day success of the independent retail sector. By lowering our core prices, we’re helping retailers strengthen their margins and stay competitive where it really matters”.
The wholesaler, which is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary year, added that this investment reflects the company’s ‘unwavering commitment to putting its customers first’, supporting them through the ongoing market pressures as retailers face worrying cost increases.
The campaign will be advertised through signage in Bestway’s depots, newsletters, printed leaflets and digital platforms. In this way, Bestway aims to show ‘it’s backing retailers not just with words, but with action’.
