Craft beer subscription service Beer 52 has struck a deal to buy “certain trade and assets” of Eebria, the online wholesaler that went into administration on March 19.

The deal is through Beer 52 subsidiary Craft Beer Holdings, and marks the company’s first foray into wholesaling.

Eebria was founded by David and Rachel Jackson in 2013 and linked retailers and hospitality businesses directly with brewers to speed up orders.

Beer 52 said the deal would allow Eebria to “move forward well-capitalised, with a strong balance sheet and a clear focus to get more craft beer into more pubs, bars, shops and restaurants.”

Beer 52 chief executive Fraser Doherty added: “We are acutely aware of how difficult the current trading environment is for breweries, brands, producers and customers.

“Now more than ever, the industry we love needs Eebria’s revolutionary platform to thrive, connecting suppliers and customers and getting more people drinking great beer.”
