Spirits giants Bacardi and Brown-Forman have decided to end a joint UK distribution agreement that has been in place since 2002.

Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands has taken a formidable portfolio to the UK trade over the past 17 years, featuring the likes of Bacardi, Bombay Sapphire, Grey Goose, Patrón, Martini, Jack Daniels, Woodford Reserve and El Jimador.

However, they feel the time is now right to go their separate ways and they will not renew the current arrangement when it expires in April 2020.

Bacardi will now fully dedicate its resources towards distributing its Bacardi rums, Bombay Saphire, Grey Goose, Patrón, Martini, St-Germain and Scotch whiskies such as Craigellachie and Dewar’s.

Brown-Forman plans to establish its own UK distribution company. It will seek to drive further growth in Jack Daniels, Gentleman Jack and its various offshoots, plus Woodforde Reserve, Herradura, El Jimador, Finlandia vodka and Slane Irish whiskey.

Business will continue until April 30, 2020, and then they will form two separate distributors, with separate sales, marketing and logistics teams.
