Asahi UK has announced plans to brew and pack all Meantime and Dark Star beers at the Griffin Brewery in Chiswick, alongside the Fuller’s portfolio.

The company said the intention is for Meantime to retain a footprint in Greenwich, with plans underway to create a “retail experience” which is to include a brewing element.

The move to Chiswick is expected to create “more efficient, sustainable operations, with a solid foundation for future innovation and investment”, the company said.

The company declined to say whether the move would result in redundancies, telling Drinks Retailing: “Our absolute priority right now is to support all colleagues who may be impacted by this proposal, and we are currently in the process of consultation with them. It would therefore be inappropriate to provide any further detail at this time.”

Meantime was acquired by Asahi in 2016, while Fuller’s bought Dark Star in 2018.

Fuller’s was subsequently acquired by Asahi in 2019, in a deal worth £250 million.
