Asahi Group Holdings has linked its drop in profit in Q3 of 2025 to a “system disruption” caused by a cyberattack in September.
The company explained that profits in Japan and East Asia fell short of expectations due to the disruptions, with core operating profit down by 3.1% year-on-year.
Revenue, however, increased by 1.3% compared to the same period last year. Asahi said this was due to the growth of RTDs and non-alcoholic adult beverages.
Operating profit in Asia Pacific was also down by 0.9%, which the company said was linked to sales volume declines and increases in fixed costs.
At the same time, however, revenue increased by 3.1%, led by sales of non-alcoholic beverages.
In an inverse of this trend, Europe meanwhile saw 1% growth in operating profits but a reduction in revenues.
According to the business, the increase in profit was due to earnings structure reforms, which created more efficiency.
Revenue, which dipped 3% year-on-year, was linked to soft demand in Poland and unfavourable weather in the Czech Republic.
On the Q3 results, Atsushi Katsuki, president and group CEO at Asahi Group Holdings, said: “In Europe and Asia Pacific, we are making steady progress on initiatives to drive growth, including improved unit sales prices and earnings structure reforms.
“In Japan & East Asia, while the impact of the system disruption is unavoidable in the short term, we remain confident in the resilience of our business foundation, underpinned by a robust brand portfolio.
“We will continue to proactively strengthen our business portfolio to enhance corporate value over the medium to long term.”
