Global beverage powerhouse The Asahi Group has said it aims to restore its logistical operations by February after a cyberattack in September potentially leaked the personal details of 1.52 million customers.

The news comes at the same time as the Asahi Group said it would delay its financial results by more than 50 days after the end of the financial year, which ends on 31 December.

Asahi has already delayed the release of its third-quarter earnings, which were originally due on 12 November.

The group, best known for its Super Dry beer, has said that the personal details of 1.52 million customers may have been leaked in the attack. Since then, restaurants, bars and stores in Japan have run low on Asahi drinks.

Atsushi Katsuki, CEO of Asahi Group, said: “We can’t avoid forecasting a deterioration in our results but our mid-to-long-term management plan is unchanged.”

Katsuki added that Asahi Group has not paid any ransom to the hackers, nor has the company received any specific demands.

“We have not been in touch with the attacker,” Katsuki said. “Even if we had a ransom demand, we would not have paid it.”
