Armit Wines has launched a series of virtual tastings themed around escapism and relaxation, with the aim of allowing wine lovers to learn during lockdown.

The first in the series of video tastings via Instagram saw Armit’s brand manager Anna Schena talk about Tuscan favourite Rosso dei Notri from Tua Rita.

She said “As well as talking about the wine we are tasting, the videos also include interesting facts about the producer and the area. They are a very informal way to encourage people to try new wines and discover new regions. There are some great food-pairing tips too!”

Wineries to be featured by Armit’s team include Italian classics like Il Marroneto, Cantine Lunae, Bruno Giacosa, Giacomo Fenocchio and Marchese Luca di Spinola, as well as icons such as Bien Nacido, from California, Domaine Huet and Domaine de Montille from France and Astrolabe from New Zealand.

Armit’s team of experts will also be joined by winemakers live from around the world, which started this week with Chris Thomas from Dowie Doole, from the McLaren Vale, Australia. The next of these features Michele Faro from Pietradolce, from Sicily, Italy, at 4pm on Friday April 17.

The company said: “Settle in, hunker down at home and stayed tuned to Armit’s Instagram for the new series of virtual wine tastings to help you learn during lockdown”.

All previous tastings videos are also available to view.

Armit Wines will donate £10 to The Drinks Trust on every order placed for delivery through its website and via its Private Client team and, as a thank you, Armit will include a free bottle of wine with the order.

The money raised from Armit’s customers will go to the charity’s Covid-19 Emergency Fund.
