Argentine-backed group Terold Invest has made a major move into the UK market by snapping up Off-Piste Wines – the company behind innovative brands such as Most Wanted.
Terold Invest, which is owned by the Bemberg family and controls Grupo Peñaflor and WX Wines, said the deal marks a “highly strategic” step in its ambition to scale globally through brand-led businesses.
Off-Piste Wines was founded in 2007 and has since built a reputation for forward-thinking NPD. Most Wanted Wines is often cited as the UK’s leading canned wine brand and sits in the portfolio alongside Argentine Malbec, The Wanderer, plus a range of private-label and exclusive lines.
The combined group will exceed five million cases annually across Europe, and brings together Off-Piste’s UK distribution and brand development expertise with Terold’s global scale.
Gustavo Sampayo, Terold Invest’s CEO, commented: “This is a highly strategic acquisition for Terold Invest. Off-Piste Wines has built an exceptional business in the UK, combining commercial strength with a clear track record of innovation. Together, we see significant opportunity to accelerate growth, expand our brand footprint and shape the future of the wine category across key global markets.”
The enlarged portfolio will span a wide range of international brands, including Trapiche and Finca Las Moras from Grupo Peñaflor plus Bread & Butter from WX Brands, alongside Off-Piste’s UK-facing labels.
Off-Piste’s management team, led by CEO Andy Talbot, will remain in place following the acquisition to provide continuity.
The deal reflects the long-term strategy of the Bemberg family to build a diversified global wine platform that spans multiple markets, formats and price points. The family now seems poised to realise part of that strategy in the UK, combining its international reach with Off-Piste’s flexible sourcing model and links to UK bottling.
