Alliance Wine has added the Etna producer Tornatore to its Italian portfolio, with wines available from this month. 

Based on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, Tornatore is a family estate with a history dating back to 1865. 

Today, the producer cultivates over 100 hectares of vineyards alongside olive groves and hazelnut orchards. It draws on Etna’s volcanic soil to produce distinctive and complex wines, including native varieties such as Carricante, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. 

According to Alliance, the addition of Tornatore reflects an important expansion, with the Etna region described as “one of Italy’s most exciting fine wine regions”. 

The partnership will begin with two wines, Etna Bianco and Etna Rosso DOC, both of which aim for vibrancy, structure and approachability. 

Etna Bianco has been described as a vibrant, mineral-driven Carricante with citrus, white stone fruit and lifted freshness. 

Etna Rosso DOC, on the other hand, is characterised by red berry fruit, supple tannins and depth without heaviness. 

The importer added that, crucially, the price points associated with these wines are among the most competitive in the category for Etna DOC wines.
