Discount supermarket Aldi has said that it is cutting the price of its Specially Selected Prosecco to celebrate England’s success in the World Cup.
The retailer said that more savings are set to kick in every time The Three Lions progress to the next stage, with bottle prices reducing by between 50p and £1 each time.
To begin, Aldi reduced the price of the Prosecco to celebrate England beating Panama on Saturday 28 June.
Following the win, the bottle dropped from £7.99 to £6.99 in all stores, with the 12% off deal available online.
More recently, after England’s victory yesterday against DR Congo, the grocer is set to slash the price again.
If the team continues to succeed, Aldi said that the price would dip to £5.99 at the quarter-final stage. If they win the quarter-final, the drink will cost £5.49, then £4.99 if they reach the final. The ultimate saving, if England were to win the tournament, would see the bottle priced at £4.49.
On the deal, Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “We know many shoppers will be getting together with friends and family to watch England throughout the World Cup, so we wanted to make those celebrations even more affordable.
“With every England victory, shoppers will unlock even bigger savings on our Specially Selected Prosecco.”
