Aldi has dropped the price of its best-selling Prosecco to under the £5 mark in time for the bank holiday weekend.

The retailer’s San Floriano Prosecco DOC is usually priced at £5.79 but from May 22, it said, “shoppers can pick up a delicious bottle of fizz for under £5 this weekend”, with the price dropping to £4.99.

A spokesperson for Aldi said: “Whether it’s raising a glass with your household or toasting virtual celebrations with friends, shoppers will be able to enjoy Aldi’s fantastic Prosecco range this bank holiday.”

Aldi also has Costellore Prosecco Spumante DOC (rsp: £5.99), which is described as a “delicious and fruity Prosecco without the hefty price tag” It has flavours of lemon zest and ripe white peach notes.

The retailer also has an Organic Prosecco DOC (rsp: £7.99) and one under its premium own-label tier: Exquisite Collection Prosecco Spumante DOCG (£7.49).
