Following the social media success of its Le Petit Poulet Rosé, Aldi has launched a supersized version in the form of the Le Grand Poulet Rosé Magnum.

Priced at £11.00, the drink is the equivalent of two standard-sized bottles, which retail for £6 each.

A reference to La Vieille Ferme Rosé, which saw annual sales surge by more than 60% last year, Aldi is capitalising on the success of the pale Provence rosé trend.

According to the discount supermarket, the wine is a pale peach-pink French rosé with notes of citrus and red berries. It is made from a blend of Grenache, Merlot and Syrah.

The new addition joins Aldi’s line-up of Le Petit Poulet wines, all of which feature an image of a chicken, mirroring La Vieille Ferme’s branding.

Highlighting the price difference compared with La Vieille Ferme, Aldi said that its 150cl magnum costs 31% less than the La Vieille Ferme magnum, which is currently retailing for £17.50 at Sainsbury’s.

The launch of the magnum comes alongside other summer promotions being run by the discounter, including a promise to cut the price of Prosecco every time England records a World Cup win.
