Sign-ups are now open for the 31 Days of German Wine campaign, marking the programme’s 15th year.

Designed to celebrate German Riesling while introducing consumers to other styles from the country, the campaign is aimed at independent wine merchants, bars and restaurants across the UK.

Independent merchants wishing to take part can register to receive support for their German wine initiatives, including up to £75 in funding towards a launch event.

Virtual staff training sessions with an expert German wine educator are also available, alongside point-of-sale materials including tote bags, tissue paper, window stickers, posters and bunting.

As in previous years, Wines of Germany will award £1,000 to the best campaign. A further £500 will be presented to the runner-up, with all prize money to be spent on German wine listings.

To take part in the competition, merchants must stock German wines from a minimum of three producers, including at least one non-Riesling variety. They must also run their promotion for at least one week during July.

Wines of Germany said that more than 130 retailers, wine bars and restaurants took part last year. Campaigns included tastings, food and wine pairings, specially curated menus, in-store displays, social media competitions and mixed cases of German wines.
