19 Crimes, the brand owned by Treasury Wine Estates (TWE), has announced the launch of a new lighter wine-based drink in the UK market: Calimocho.

Drawing on consumer demand for lower-abv drinks, the cocktail is inspired by the Spanish Kalimotxo cocktail, traditionally made with equal parts red wine and cola.

Riffing on the original concept, Calimocho will be available in two variants: one combining Shiraz and cola, and another blending crisp white wine with lemon. Both expressions are 9% abv and sold in 75cl bottles.

Aiming to reach younger consumers, the launch will be supported by 19 Crimes’ first-ever TikTok campaign throughout June and July.

The brand said the drinks are designed to be enjoyed at festivals and during warm summer evenings.

The launch comes after a wider announcement from TWE, which revealed plans to restructure its portfolio. Part of this strategy includes a greater focus on premiumisation and lighter-style wines.

CEO Sam Fischer said the changes respond directly to evolving market conditions and shifting consumer preferences.

Chantal McDowell, international marketing manager for 19 Crimes, said: “With fan-favourite soda flavours we know our consumers will love, and a targeted TikTok campaign putting Calimocho on the radar of those wanting to kick back and have fun this summer, we’re confident Calimocho will be at the heart of social-sharing moments on long, hot summer nights in the weeks ahead.”

Both NPDs will be available nationwide in Morrisons stores from 22 June. They will initially retail at £7.50 before increasing to £9 following the promotional period.
