UK embraces more Argentinian wines for third month
Exports of Argentinian wine to the UK have grown for the third consecutive month, according to Wines of Argentina.
Year-on-year figures show value is up 17.4 per cent to £18.5 million and volume is up 1.9 per cent to 1.8 million 9-litre cases, WoA said.
W oA UK director James Forbes said: "It's
genuinely exciting to see such strong growth. After a year of hard work by everyone involved with Argentinian wine here in the UK and back in South America, it's welcome news and we are going to be giving everything we've got to sustain and increase that going forward."
Exports of top-selling Argentinian wine Malbec have grown 50 per cent, while rosé has grown 100 per cent. The average bottle price for Argentinian wine is now £3.74, according to WoA.
Forbes said: "We want to build a sustainable share of the market based on both value and volume and I can see no reason why this should not be possible."
