Christmas Day raid
Thieves in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, stashed stolen cigarettes, tobacco and lighter fuel in a wheelie bin after raiding an off-licence on Christmas
Day. The burglars forced open the back door of Graham's Off -licence before ripping out the cigarette cabinet and emptying its contents into the bin, which police later found empty and abandoned.
CCTV images of Threshers thief
Police in Cambridge have released CCTV images to the public of a man they believe is connected to robberies at two Threshers stores in the city. The first branch in Cherry Hinton Road was raided on Dec 14 at about 8.30pm and the second, in Chesterton Road, on Dec 30. In both incidents a man threatened staff and demanded money before escaping with undisclosed amounts.
Masked robbery at knifepoint
Masked men have stolen cash during an armed robbery at a Sale off-licence. Two men entered Booze Buster on Coppice Avenue on Dec 30 and demanded to know the whereabouts of the safe. The offenders then forced a member of staff into the back room and threatened her with a knife before stealing cash.
A gunman threatened two members of staff at a branch of Threshers in Hastings, East Sussex. The man went into the shop on Jan 5 and pointed a handgun at the two female workers, before fleeing empty
handed. A police helicopter was scrambled shortly after the incident was reported, but police could not find the man.
Fake ID man foiled
Staff at a
Lancashire off-licence foiled an attempt by an under-age customer to use a fake ID card to buy alcohol. Staff at the Bottle
& Basket off-licence, Leyland, refused to make a sale when a young man produced a plastic National Identification card that looked very similar to a driving licence. They retained the card and contacted South Ribble Borough Council, which established the card was fraudulent.
