African beer sales net thousands for conservation charity

A fundraising initiative between African lager, Tusker and supermarket chain Tesco has raised more than £10,000 for a wildlife charity.

Since last October, Diageo-owned Tusker and Tesco have each donated 5p from the sale of every bottle to the UK based wildlife charity Tusk.

The money will be used by the charity to support more than 30 different field projects in 17 African countries.

Tusker distributor Peter Karsten, said: “The work they do in Africa is so important and as Tusker is a genuine imported African lager we feel it is very important to give something back to Africa.”

Karsten said the fundraising initiative would continue this year to raise more money for the charity.

Kenyan produced Tusker is currently stocked in Tesco with an rrp of £1.49.
