Champagne Cognac dubbed champion at ISC

Frapin Multimillésime Grande Champagne Cognac has been named supreme champion spirit in the International Spirits Challenge 2008.

William Grant & Sons was named distiller of the year, and the Glenfiddich distillery scooped the award for excellence in craftsmanship.

The awards were judged by teams of expert tasters in five categories - whiskies, brandy, white spirits, rum and liqueurs & specialities.

Trophies went to Glenfiddich Single Malt Whisky 40 Year Old, James Martin's Blended Scotch 30 Year Old, Suntory Whisky Hibiki 30 Year Old, Van Ryn's Distillers Reserve 12 Year Old, Flagship Vodka, Lysholm Linie Aquavit and Domaine de Sathenay Crème de Cassis. Santa Teresa Rhum Orange, from Venezuela, was named best in category in the rum section.
