Irish off-licence chain sold
The Carry Out off-licence business in the Irish Republic has been bought by wholesaler the Barry Group.
Carry Out has 52 stores across Ireland and has been bought out of receivership.
Previous owner Galvin’s Wholesale went into examinership in September and receivership earlier this month.
Jim Barry, managing director of Barry Group, which operates the Costcutter franchise in Ireland, said: “This takeover represents a substantial investment and a significant milestone for the Barry Group as we look to build our footprint in the mainstream off-sales sector.”
He said there was “fantastic potential” to grow the Carry Out brand, which is itself a franchise operation.
“We believe this deal will allow us to grow our scale and leverage our increased buying power across all our selling channels,” Barry added.
