Guinness Black Lager trialled in NI

Guinness is testing its new Black Lager variant in selected outlets in Northern Ireland.

The product is available in 33cl bottles and will be supported by a heavyweight advertising campaign, according to Diageo.

It is cold filtered and uses Guinness’ roasted barley to give it its black colour and is fermented using a specific Guinness lager yeast.

Michael McCann, head of Diageo Northern Ireland, said: “Guinness Black Lager, like all lagers, is characterised by its refreshing taste.

“The addition of Guinness expertise, roasted barley and a late hopping imparts a taste that is unique among lagers.”?Diageo would not confirm how long the trial will last before a decision is made about making the lager available in the rest of the UK.
