Festivals and campaigns go virtual to support small producers and retailers
A raft of online drinks tastings and events have been launched as organisations and producers continue to seek out innovative ways to support the industry during the Coronavirus crisis.
Beer52 is launching CyberFest: a Virtual Beer Festival designed to support breweries during Covid-19. The event, which costs £29.99, includes 12 fresh craft beers (worth £45), a “drink along” event on Friday April 17, and some live streams (including Q&As) with brewers from 6 to 10pm.
The team at Beer52 said: “We are launching the World’s First Online Beer Festival. Join the brewers with a case of 12 craft beers delivered to you and enjoy them alongside the live-streamed beer festival, hosted by editor of Ferment, Richard Croasdale, with virtual back-to-back video tastings and Q&As featuring the likes of world-famous Mikkel Borg-Bjegso or Danish brewery Mikkeller and many more.”
Separately, The Wine Show has adapted its business model to launch The Wine Show @Home.
Joe Fattorini said: “We have been overwhelmed with the heart-warming response we have received and are so grateful to all of you who contributed and got involved. The wonderful sense of community has us realising that now more than ever, wine can really help bring people together – so thank you for being a part of this.

The Wine Show is available from 7pm every night on YouTube.
And in time for Easter, English wine producers are setting up #theBIGenglishwinegoodfriday on April 10, 2020 at 7pm.
The campaign, which is being shared across social media, encourages people to “buy direct and join us for a BIG virtual tasting of local wine and help support our industry”.
