Berry Bros & Rudd reports "incredibly strong" online sales
Berry Bros & Rudd said it is seeing “incredibly strong” demand for wine deliveries and it recently recorded its biggest online sales day to date.
Luigi Barzini, head of sales, said last Wednesday (March 25) the company had “the biggest day online in the history of www.bbr.com”. On Thursday (March 26) it delivered 18,000 bottles and on Friday this was set to increase to more than 24,000 bottles.
On a LinkedIn post, Barzini added: “Thank you for supporting independent retailers in these difficult times.”
The company confirmed it had recorded increased sales across the business over the last couple of months with online sales performing particularly strongly.
Month-to-date sales are up 40% and gross profit is up 51% year-on-year, with much of this driven by the company’s own-label range.
A spokesperson said: “We have sold out of Extra Ordinary Claret and we are waiting for the next vintage to arrive. Good Ordinary Claret sales are also up. Volume is up six-fold compared to March last year and gin sales have increased 600% year-on-year for the past three weeks, mainly driven by No.3 Gin.
“We are still operating online and will continue to deliver contact-free to our customers for as long as we are able.
“However, for our FMV business, it is a very disruptive time for many of our trade customers and we are doing what we can, where we can, to help support them during this period of unprecedented, ongoing challenges.”
