Teemu Pukki's goalscoring exploits celebrated with special beer
East Anglian brewer Woodforde’s has created a special beer to commemorate Norwich striker Teemu Pukki’s efforts in helping Finland qualify for Euro 2020.
The brewery is located on the outskirts of Norwich and it sponsors one of the stands at the team’s stadium, Carrow Road.
Norwich secured promotion to the Premier League ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, thanks largely to Pukki’s 29-goal haul.
He made a superb start to life in the top flight, banging in six goals in his opening five games to carry Norwich into the top four. The goals have since dried up and he is on an eight-game drought for his club, who are now marooned in the relegation zone.
However, Pukki continues to excel for his country. He scored three goals in two games during the recent international break to help Finland qualify for their first ever international tournament: Euro 2020.
To commemorate the achievement, Woodforde’s has created The Perfect Finnish, a 3.8% abv amber ale. It will be on sale in the ground when Norwich host Arsenal at Carrow Road on Sunday, while local operators in Norwich will also stock it.
It will then go into wider distribution in pubs and shops across East Anglia and further afield.
Sam Jeffery, head of commercial operations at the club, said: “Having seen Teemu and the Huuhkajat propel themselves to the European Championships it only seems fitting that there should be something appropriate to drink to celebrate.
“It’s great to see that Woodforde’s have been able to use this ale to recognize their outstanding achievement.”
James Armitage, commercial and marketing director at Woodforde’s, said: “We’re proud to partner the club to brew this beer. We hope we’ve done Teemu justice by creating a beer that, like him, is a huge hit with the fans, high in quality, has great balance, and always achieves the perfect finish.”
