Pernod Ricard launches Albariño from Rías Baixas
Leading Spanish wine brand Campo Viejo has branched out of its Rioja heartland and it is launching an Albariño from Rías Baixas.
The UK is the first market to receive the new wine, which will be sold at Sainsbury’s and Ocado from August 11, with an rrp of £10.
Brand owner Pernod Ricard said the Albariño grapes were “carefully picked by hand and grown in small family owned plots”.
Off-trade director Chris Shead said: “Until now Campo Viejo has been led by Rioja Tempranillo reds and Viura Tempranillo whites.
“Albariño offers a new, exciting alternative trade-up for consumers and caters to the growing demand for light and fresh styles.”
