Bargain Booze boss leaving to join pet retail chain

The managing director of Bargain Booze and Wine Rack is leaving the group to take up a senior role at Pets at Home.

David Robinson, a former Argos executive, was running the retail division of Conviviality when it collapsed in spectacular fashion earlier this year.

Bestway swooped in and rescued the retail estate from the ashes and Robinson stayed on as managing director at Bestway Retail, looking after Bargain Booze and Wine Rack.

But he is now off to join the pet retail chain as chief operating officer in early 2019.

Robinson said: “I’m very excited to be joining the team at a time when the business is moving towards a more integrated, digitally lead approach, where I can help deliver on its ambitions to be the world’s number one pet care business.”

Chief executive Peter Pritchard hailed Robinson’s work at Argos, but neglected to mention his stint at Conviviality as he welcomed his new chief operating officer to the firm.
