Goose Midway IPA gets off-trade launch after on-trade success
Goose Island has launched its Goose Midway IPA in cans for the first time.
The 4.1% abv beer, which was designed to tap into the trend for lighter, more sessionable IPAs, was previously only available in bars.
The beer is available to buy now in Tesco stores at 3 for £5.25 for 33cl cans. Four-packs are also available in Asda for £6 and the cans will be launched in Waitrose this week.
A spokesperson for the company said: “The response from retailers and consumers for Midway in cans has been overwhelmingly positive thus far. We’ve been listed in over 1,000 distribution points since its launch, so needless to say we’re pleased with the results! Looking ahead, we expect to see much of the same as consumers opt for the convenience of cans.”
Midway is described as combining “citrus aromas with a balanced malt backbone”. The recipe uses Hallertau, Amarilla, Centennial and Mosaic hops, to create an IPA with a medium to low malt profile, with a medium to low bitterness.
The beer will sit alongside Goose Island’s IPA in the brand’s portfolio. Goose IPA is currently available to buy from Beerhawk, Tesco and Sainsbury’s.
