Hallgarten adds Frescobaldi's Chianti Classico wines
Hallgarten & Novum Wines has announced it will distribute Frescobaldi’s Tenuta Perano in the UK.
The wines represent the Frescobaldi family’s first venture into the Chianti Classico region after it purchased the estate in the Gaiole commune in 2017, following three years of managing the vineyards.
Hallgarten has added two wines from the estate to its portfolio – a Chianti Classico and a Chianti Classico Riserva. A third wine, a Gran Selezione, will be released next spring. All are available to UK independent stores and the on-trade.
The estate covers 250 hectares, of which 52 are planted with vines which surround the dedicated winery. The veinyard is planted on steep slopes increasing to an altitude of 500 metres and is situated on a unique, naturally formed amphitheatre profile, which capture and amplifies the sunlight onto the vines.
Frescobaldi president, Lamberto Frescobaldi, said: “We have been managing Tenuta Perano’s operations since early 2014 and know what amazing potential the vineyards hold. This seventh Frescobaldi estate is one of our most significant acquisitions to date, as we look to embrace the heart of Tuscany, and in the heart of Chianti Classico.”
Hallgarten’s portfolio director, Jim Wilson, said: “We are very excited to introduce this prestigious estate to our portfolio. Frescobaldi has been a significant partner of ours for a number of years and we are confident these wines will continue to showcase the incredible winemaking abilities the producer has become renowned for.”
The new additions join wines form the six other Frescobaldi estates in the Hallgarten portfolio.
