Bordeaux Today tastings to launch in Liverpool and Glasgow

Bordeaux Today, a series of educational tastings created by Vins de Bordeaux (CIVB), will be taking place in Liverpool and Glasgow this September, following a successful London launch earlier this year.

CIVB is inviting members of the wine trade to visit The Arts School (www.theartschoolrestaurant.co.uk) in Liverpool on September 11 from 3-5pm and at The Gannet (thegannetgla.com) in Glasgow on September 17 from 2-4pm.

Bordeaux Today is designed to appeal to those who buy, sell or communicate about wine, offering a “unique opportunity” to learn more about the diversity of Bordeaux wines in a relaxed and informal environment.

Tutors from L’Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux, the CIVB’s renowned Bordeaux wine school, will host the two-hour sessions and each event will include a food and wine tasting, demonstrating how well Bordeaux wines match a wide variety of flavours and contemporary foods.

Attendees of the Liverpool tasting will be treated to a menu created by chef-patron Paul Askew, including pan roasted harissa marinated lamb and halibut on a fennel and crab salad, while Glasgow attendees can look forward to hake with bonito butter and braised ox cheek.

Guests will be invited to taste a selection of six to eight “interesting and accessible” red, white, rose, sparkling and sweet wines, which CIVB said will “perfectly demonstrate the quality and diversity of Bordeaux wines today”.
