Fortnum & Mason reveals Sparkling Tea collection

Fortnum & Mason has unveiled a Sparkling Tea collection comprising of alcoholic and non-alcoholic variants.

The drinks use a white wine base (or grape juice for the alcohol-free variants) and then tea is infused in several different flushes to create a “completely unique tipple, with a depth akin to a sparkling wine”.

The collection has been created by Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Company, based in Denmark. Each recipe is crafted by hand, creating small production runs using premium teas from Danish tea merchants, who source ingredients from across the globe.

The drinks, which are all certified as organic, are designed to offer consumers an alternative sparkling drink, particularly for special occasions. The range features three bottles, Blå (Blue), Rød (Red) and Grøn (Green), which each use unique infusions and secret recipes.

Blå (rsp: £16) is alcohol-free and uses a blend of jasmine, white tea and Darjeeling teas to create a palate of jasmine and white flowers, with hints of green apple fruit on the finish.

The 5% abv Rød (rsp: £18), is a blend of hibiscus, white tea and black tea, and the drink has aromas of red berry fruits and raspberry leaf, as well as flavours of Assam and baked red apple.

The 5% abv Grøn (rsp: £18) is a combination of green tea, lemongrass and white tea, and it has hints of nectarine with a palate of peach and a touch of mint.

The launch forms part of Fortnum’s commitment to seeking innovation and also low-alcohol alternatives. The retailer has exclusively partnered with the small batch Danish company to stock the collection.

Other alcohol-free announcements this year include Alcohol-Free Hampers and a range of alcohol-free products for Christmas,.

The Sparkling tea range is available online or in Fortnum’s stores.
