Halewood to distribute Dictador brands

31 May, 2018

Halewood Wines & Spirits has signed a deal as the exclusive UK distributor of Dictador, the Colombian producer of rums and gins.

Halewood is taking over from Proof Drinks to supply the ultra-premium spirits to the UK’s off and on-trade. The portfolio includes a collection of aged rums and gins and its most luxurious expression, 2 Masters, with prices ranging from £40 to £600.

The producer has been located on the Caribbean cost since 1913 and it uses locally sourced sugar cane honey and a proprietary natural yeast strain that is cultivated by the family.

The spirits will join Halewood’s portfolio of premium gin and rum brands, which includes Aber Falls Distillery, Whitley Neill, City of London Distillery, Marylebone Gin, Liverpool Organic Gin, Dead Man’s Fingers, The Glasgow Distillery Company, Rum Sixty Six and Centenario Internacional Rum.

Stewart Hainsworth, Group ceo, said: “Dictador is an incredibly high caliber brand with a distinctive range that appeals to many discerning drinkers. With our focus on quality, the brand’s proposition of high grade distilling provides a great opportunity to capitalise on the growth of the super-premium rum and gin categories and we are looking forward to supporting the brand in expanding its reach throughout the UK.”

In other news, Halewood announced last month that it planned to invest £7 million in a new distillery in Leith, the original home of the Crabbie whisky brand, which was established in 1801.
