Bolney links with Kew to create new sparkler

21 March, 2018

Bolney Wine Estate and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, have joined forces to create a new sparkling wine.

The new Bolney Kew Sparkling Blanc de Noirs and gift box will be available in Marks & Spencer in April. The wine, which is described as having fresh and delicate stone fruits and notes of honey and pear, is made from 95% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Meunier. The wine, which is made using the traditional method, has a good balance of sweetness and acidity with a “lovely length”, according to the producer.

The gift box features sketches of dragonflies, ladybirds and wildflowers, inspired by illustrations from the archives at Kew Gardens.

Sam Linter, head winemaker and managing director at Bolney Wine Estate, said: “As a quintessentially English brand, Marks & Spencer is the ideal place to widen the awareness of English wine and our partnership and shared ethos with the Royal Botanic Gardens. At Bolney, we are proud to be part of the success and increase in popularity of English wine that Marks & Spencer have experienced.”

Elizabeth Kelly, wine specialist from M&S, said: “We are excited this lovely new Sussex Sparkling is joining our growing range of English wines at M&S. We have seen sales of English sparkling wine go from strength to strength and are delighted M&S customers are buying into locally made wines.”

The Bolney Kew Sparkling Blanc de Noirs and gift box will be priced at £32.
