Zyw joins Berry Bros in Italian wine buying role

03 October, 2017

Berry Bros & Rudd has appointed Davy Zyw as its buyer for Italian wine.

Zyw joins the fine wine merchant from Direct Wines/Laithwaites where he had been for four years as global wines and spirits buyer, a role that included buying from Champagne, South Africa, South America and England, in addition to Italy.

Before that he was assistant product development manager at Tesco.

He has a wine business degree from Plumpton College and has worked in top restaurants as a sommelier at Le Gavroche and commis sommelier at D&D’s The Bluebird.

He is the author of the book I Love Champagne.

Berry Bros buying director Abi Hirshfeld said: “He will bring experience and a fresh pair of eyes to our already world class buying team.

“Davy is passionate about Italy and has a deep knowledge of Italian wines.

“We look forward to his contribution in bringing our Italian range to an authoritative and market-leading level.”

Zyw will be supported by buying assistant Chloe Dale-Harris.
