Prolific Tomatin has second release in a week with Earth launch

Scotch whisky distiller Tomatin has released Earth, the third expression in its Five Virtues series of whiskies.

It’s the second whisky launch of the week for Tomatin, which on Tuesday unveiled a 2006 vintage in its Cù Bòcan range.

The Wood and Fire expressions in the Five Virtues line-up were reeleased earlier this year and Earth will eventually be followed by Metal and Water.

Earth single was distilled with peat-dried malted barley giving it a peaty smokiness not normally associated with the distillery.

Distillery manager Graham Eunson said: “The Earth expression is unique within the Five Virtues series – and indeed our entire range of single malts - because of its peaty profile.

“We only distil with peated barley for two weeks of every year and this spirit is never usually released under the Tomatin brand name.”

Marketing manager Jennifer Masson added: “The Wood and Fire expressions have been extremely well received in all of our international markets, with buyers eager to add Earth to their collection.”

Earth is being officially launched at The Whisky Exchange Show in London today.

It has a limited run of 6,000 bottles and has an rrp of £49.99.

Metal and Water will be released in early 2018.
