New visitor centre, shop and cider for Sheppy's
Somerset cider producer Sheppy’s has unveiled a new visitor centre, farm shop, deli and restaurant at its farm at Bradford-on-Tone in the county.
The development is being accompanied by a revamped look for the Sheppy’s range and a new limited edition cider.
Sheppy’s Iwood is made with fruit from Iwood Farm, at Congresbury in Somerset, where current managing director David Sheppy’s great-great-great grandfather, John, originally farmed and made cider. Apples from some of his trees have been incorporated into the blend along with fruit from the current Sheppy’s farm.
The cider comes in 75cl hand-labelled and waxed bottles in wooden boxes.
The shop at Sheppy's House of Cider & Fine Food features cidermaking vats and one large 100-year-old barrel has been turned into a venue for tastings and events.
Director Louisa Sheppy said: "It has been quite a journey to restore and renovate our old buildings to give them a new lease of life but the effort has been well worth it.
“We are thrilled with the end result. It has exceeded all of our expectations, and will offer visitors a wonderful Somerset cider experience.
“We are so proud of our heritage, and House of Cider is a fitting celebration of that passion and history.”
