Andre Lurton links with Daniel Lambert and Theatre of Wine

21 February, 2017

Vignobles Andre Lurton has revealed a new partnership with two companies in the UK’s wine trade: Daniel Lambert Wines and Theatre of Wine.

Theatre of Wine will make Andre Luton wines available through its three London shops, and the company will also manage London-based on-trade accounts. Daniel Lambert will be responsible for Andre Luton’s off-trade national sales.

Lambert said: “We are delighted to add the Andree Luton portfolio to our Bordeaux range. Vignobles Andre Luton is a leading producer whose wines offer the best of quality and value, and as a family winery it fits very well with our existing agencies from around the world. Moreover, the Lurton range will complement our existing high-profile properties in the Bordeaux region, which include the leading Cru Classe Sauternes producer Chateau Filhot.”

Vignobles Andre Lurton is a major producer of Entre-Deux-Mers and Pessac-Leognan. It is a leading distributor on the traditional French and Belgian markets. Properties in the portfolio include: Chateau Couhins-Lurton Cru Classe de Graves, Chateau La Louviere, Chateau Bonnet, Chateau de Cruzeau, Chateau de Rochemorin, Chateau de Barbe-Blanche, Chateau Coucheroy, Chateau Guibon and Chateau Grossombre.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
