Kingfisher Beer reveals plans to bring Bintang to the UK

17 January, 2017

Kingfisher Beer Europe is to market and distribute the popular Indonesia beer brand Bintang Beer across the UK and selected European markets.

Bintang is the leading beer brand in Indonesia and it has 85 years-worth of heritage. Kingfisher’s deal with Multi Bintang Indonesia (part of the Heineken company) will see the brand available in the UK market for the first time.

Damon Swarbick, chief executive office of Kingfisher, said: “The brand is ideally positioned to capitalise on the burgeoning Pan-Asian restaurant sector and so we will initially be seeding it here. However, we believe it has much wider potential and we have already secured a number of high profile listings in London and Manchester. While the industry continues to explore craft beer, there is clearly significant demand for premium, authentic, easy-drinking world beers. We believe Bintang is perfectly suited to meet this demand.”

Bintang will be available from this month in 24 x 33cl and 12 x 62 cl bottles. The beer, which literally means ‘Star Beer’, is styled as an American Pale Lager. It is gold in colour with malt and hop flavours.
