Think Rum to maximise profit

09 January, 2017

Rum is currently a star performer in the UK, with sales up 12% in the on-trade and 3% in the off-trade, with independents and c-stores growing sales by 6% (Nielsen and CGA).

Many are predicting rum will be the next gin and continue to enjoy surging sales thanks to its diversity and versatility. But with so many rums out there it can be di cult to build a range and grow margins.

To help our readers build the perfect range and maximise profits from the rum category, we have created a one-day event in London called Think Rum.

The event takes place at The Folly, near Monument Underground station, on January 16.

It builds on the success of Think Gin and is aimed at retail buyers, who can look forward to panel discussions, masterclasses and brand showcases to arm them with everything they need to know about this category.

A large tasting area will feature many of the best rums in the world, brought to London by a group of leading producers.

Everything is designed to help maximise profits from the category.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle ľ which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
